Biologist (Bio Science Editor)

In order to qualify for a Biologist, GS-401 position you must meet the following Education Requirements:
A. Have completed the requirements for a bachelor's (or graduate) degree in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position, from an accredited college or university; OR B. Have a combination of experience and education which includes courses comparable to a major in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to this position, AND have appropriate experience or additional education which demonstrates similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the duties of this position. In addition, in order to qualify at the GS-13 level, you must meet the following:
You must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:
conducting or collaborating on applied epidemiologic research including study design, participant recruitment, exposure assessment, data collection, data analysis, and interpretation; lead author (i.e., primarily responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data, and for writing and submitting the manuscript for peer review) on at least two epidemiologic-related peer-reviewed publications and contributing author on at least one epidemiologic-related peer-reviewed publication; experience as a peer reviewer of epidemiologic research for at least two separate publications, ideally for more than one scholarly journal; and active membership and participation in a professional epidemiology society (e.g., ISEE, ISES, or similar). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
