Registered Nurse - Infection Control

The program is responsible for inpatient and outpatient clinical settings, to include the Outpatient Clinics and other remote care sites. Responsibilities include:
Conducts surveillance as determined by the risk assessment for the facility, including high risk, high volume and problem prone patient care activities. Report's findings to pertinent departments. Conducts active surveillance for communicable diseases and reports appropriately to the public health department. Demonstrates experience and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Works effectively with all levels of staff and as a member of the infection control team. Plans and implements learning activities appropriate to the clinical area and level of staff expertise. Educates patients, families, visitors and staff on infection prevention/control processes and procedures. Is a member of committees, facility and service level, where Infection Control expertise is needed Serves as an infection control liaison to the Medical Center, with VISN 6, the state/local Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control. Applies principles and current practices of infection prevention and control in supporting the health care delivery system. Provides leadership in the application of the Infection Control Plan that will consist of effective infection prevention and control practices that are specific to the practice setting, the population served, and the continuum of care. Satisfactorily integrates findings of surveillance into the organization's quality improvement activities. Applies the nursing process to all Infection Control activities to positively enhance patient care outcomes. Considers both clinical outcomes and financial implication when making recommendations for changes in Infection Control practices. Evaluates use of newly developed infection control technology or products for cost-effectiveness. Integrates cost accounting data into the analysis of Nosocomial infection reports. Annually documents cost reduction through infection control program activities. Accurately communicates resource variance to administration Modifies the Infection Control Plan if needed Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. English Language Proficiency:
RNs appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience. Experience:
A minimum of two years of successful nursing practice Demonstrated understanding of multi-faceted health care delivery systems Demonstrated ability in data management to assist in the evaluation and analysis of program data Demonstrated understanding of infectious disease Experience in accreditation standards and VHA regulations and directives Demonstrated evidence of effective communication skills (oral and written) and professional behaviors that promote cooperation and teamwork in an interdisciplinary team setting Demonstrated current computer competency Demonstrated evidence of good technical skills and strong interpersonal skills. The incumbent must be able to perform all activities of the position without restriction. This position involves considerable standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, sitting, and turning. The work may involve going up and down flights of stairs. The position requires visual and auditory acuity at a level sufficient to provide safe and effective nursing care. The incumbent should have the ability to physically control or protect him/herself from physically abusive patients.)

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
