IT Specialist

At the entry level of this position, you will:
Serve as an advisor responsible for the IT functions and solutions of the organization. Manage IT initiatives that typically extend and apply to an entire organization or the major components of an organization. Monitor existing IT systems and ensure compliance with plans, policies, standards, infrastructures, and architectures that establish the framework for the management of all IT programs. Evaluate and recommend enhancements to efficiency of IT systems through modification and application of emergent technologies. When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses. One or more positions may be filled. You need a degree or experience as described below to qualify for this position.In addition to the educational or experience requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as interpreting IT policies, standards and guidelines to formulate capital investment plans and objectives; developing and formulating IT policies to meet objectives.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of IT concepts, principles, methods, and practices; to plan and carry out assignments; provide advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of IT issues; and interpret IT policies, standards, and guidelines. 2. Skill in oral communications. 3. Skill in applying IT policy and planning formulation process; capital investment planning principles and methods; enterprise IT goals and objectives; IT metrics methods and concepts; performance management/measurement methods, tools, and techniques; requirement analysis principles and methods; acquisition management policies and procedures. 4. Knowledge of a wide range of information/communications concepts, techniques, methods, and procedures. 5. Knowledge of information systems, structured system design approaches, computer systems theories, technique and applications. 6. Knowledge of IT concepts, principles, methods, and practices; to plan and carry out assignments; provide advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of IT issues; and interpret IT policies, standards, and guidelines. 7. Skill in written communications. 8. Knowledge of contract management sufficient to oversee requirements of IT contracts in accordance with terms, conditions, and specifications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
