IT Specialist

You will:
Serve as a Regional or Program Office expert on the design and implementation of information security programs. Assists in the evaluation, research and development of cloud security risk assessments, security tools and implementation plans. Conduct vulnerability assessments of existing network and system configurations to identify threats, risk, and mitigation needs. Develop and implement training and awareness programs related to IT security programs. Serve as Project Officer, Contracting Officer Representative (COR) or Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR). One or more positions may be filled. You need a degree or experience as described below to qualify for this position.In addition to the educational or experience requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as planning and executing IT security assignments; developing new IT security methods, approaches or procedures; and evaluating and providing recommendations concerning an organization's compliance with IT security requirements.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of IT security protocols, policies, procedures and methods. 2. Ability to develop, implement and/or coordinate activities for the protection and restoration of IT systems services and capabilities. 3. Skill in oral communication. 4. Skill in providing guidance for the implementation of IT security policies in the development and operation of network systems. 5. Ability to develop recommendations on information systems security protocols impacting agency IT policies or programs. 6. Ability to develop and implement IT security training and education programs. 7. Skill in written communication. 8. Ability to manage contracts including preparing procurement requests and monitoring technical performance. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
