During this detail, the primary duties will include, but not limited to:
Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication. Screens material prior to distribution for suspense dates, establishing controls and following up for supervisor. Sets up and maintains logs showing the status of actions and correspondence. Takes and transcribes dictation for ADNP; at times prepares replies for the signature of the ADNP. Develops methods for automating various administrative reports containing data having multiple uses for other reports such as budget, funds, travel, obligations, training, staffing, etc. Prepares varied documents such as newsletters, brochures, flyers, special reports, briefings, manuals, etc. Receives visitors and telephone calls to the office, determines the nature of requests and directs callers to appropriate staff, or personally provides the information desired when routine or procedural matters of the office are involved. Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or schedules conferences. The terms of the detail include:
Start Date - Upon selection Duration of Time - Not to exceed 120 days. This detail may be terminated before the not to exceed date or may be extended as needed. Work Hours - Full-time (40 hours per week). Location - During the Detail the selectee will be expected to work at the Durham VA Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. Supervisory Approval - Supervisory approval must be obtained prior to expressing interest in this detail opportunity (required as apart of application package) Return to Work - Employee will be returned to their vacated position when the duties of the detail have been fulfilled. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-08 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
providing clerical and administrative assistance to the organization; receives telephone calls and greets visitors within the office setting using independent judgement in referring, initiating, or disposing of inquiries and requests; creates and maintains administrative files and records; preparing official correspondences such as memos, letters, and reports; maintaining supervisors calendar and scheduling meetings, briefs and appointments. TYPING PROFICIENCY:
This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience requirement described above, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
