Netapp is looking to hire Big Data and Data Analytics engineers and architects to pioneer its solutions and scale it for mass adoption.
As a Big Data Software Engineer you will work as part of a team responsible for building, designing and building Cloud Based (Software as a Service) Platform and Analytics services based on AutoSupport (ASUP) for NetApp storage products. As part of the Big data and Analytics ASUP team, the overall focus of this group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. As a Big Data engineer, you will focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development. In addition, you will be responsible for providing technology stack solutions for agility, scalablility and stability. This will include doing Proof of Concepts for new technologies, evaluation of products for delivering customer and partner usecases.
Essential Functions:
A major part of your responsibility will be to apply current skills and use up-to-date technologies to complete projects as part of the development cycle including:
Coding for Big Data Solutions
Testing for scaling release
Test automation for Agility
Debugging for Stability
Reliability for Scaling
Performance analysis
As part of a team, you will participate in technical discussions for evaluating and executing design and development plans for products. You will have direct influence on the decisions and outcomes related to project direction. You will be providing guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
A willingness to work on additional tasks and responsibilities that will contribute towards team, department, and company goals.
Job Requirements Requirements:
Experience in Big data software design and development including, Spark, MapReduce, Java, scripting.
Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards.
Strong aptitude for learning new technologies related to Data Management and Data Science.
A strong understanding of basic to complex concepts related to computer architecture, data structures, programming practices and Data Sciences.
Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices using Agile and Automation.
Creative approach to problem solving.
Ability to estimate work completion required to build an overall predictable plan.
Develop longer-range project plans and schedules for individual or work for a small team.
The candidate needs to have previous Big Data experience using Cloudera Hadoop distribution to solve large-scale problems. A strong understanding of distributed systems and strong experience in using open source framework to build applications is required.
Excellent understanding and implementation experience of Hadoop Architecture, including technologies:
Data Storage: HDFS, HBase, HIVE
Data Processing, Analysis & Integration: Spark, Map Reduce, Impala, Sqoop
Experience in Agile development methodology
Responsibility:
The tasks this individual is responsible for are often non-routine and unstructured, requiring creative solutions.
This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving complex problems.
Interaction:
This individual must work effectively with staff to vice-president levels employees within the function, and the technical team on assigned projects. There may be communication with employees in other functions as required.
Limited management direction is provided to employee on new projects or assignments; general guidance is provided on new assignments.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert on team projects.

Experience:
A minimum of 8 years of experience is required. 9 to 11 years of experience is preferred
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master Degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required
