Job Description:
To provide scientific, technical, and practical expertise to the Formulations Group to support and take part in the development, validation, and implementation of analytical methods for analysis of: Development formulations and new compounds, existing products and active ingredients, pre and post toxicity samples to support development and the current Environmental Science product range.
It is also expected that this Scientist have basic formulations chemistry skills and the ability to formulate complex formulations (often 2 and 3 way mixes) to help support Formulation team goals when necessary.
The incumbent reports to a Formulation Scientist II or higher.
Major tasks and responsibilities of position
To provide scientific, technical, and practical analytical expertise to the Formulations Group.
Develop analytical methodologies or execute existing methods for the chemical analysis of experimental or commercial formulations and active ingredients for the Environmental Science business.
To prepare protocols for validation of methods, and validate methods to the appropriate guidelines.
To run GLP Storage Stability studies, and assist in writing final reports.
Assist the Formulation & Analytical Leader to plan and coordinate the analytical work of the department to ensure efficient use of laboratory resources in line with corporate objectives and priorities.
Incumbent needs to be able to assist in development of formulations for all kinds of pesticides (insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, plant growth regulators, fertilizers and combinations any of the aforementioned products) including formulating samples when necessary.
Ensure work is conducted to Company standards, and where appropriate to Federal guidelines as dictated by EPA (GLPs), FDA, USP, or other appropriate bodies.
Communicate with manufacturing to ensure adequate exchange of information to set up QA procedures for new or existing products
Ensure the safe, clean and orderly conduct of operations in the analytical chemistry laboratories in line with the Chemical Hygiene Plan.

Provides scientific and practical analytical and formulation expertise to support ES business goals
Provides analytical support for the Formulations Development Group and creates methods and storage stability studies that are acceptable to the EPA in support of product registrations.
Has analytical chemistry ability along with possessing formulation skills that can be utilized to enhance the flexibility of the group
Work typically has to be accomplished in a tight time frame. This is especially true for supporting manufacturing problems and keeping to the GLP storage stability schedules.
Assists manufacturing in the efficient transfer of analytical technology from the lab to scale-up or commercial production.
