Duties:
This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Environmental Management Service in the Durham VA Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of janitorial and custodial work in any assigned area of the medical center after receiving training and instructions in all aspects of cleaning and floor maintenance techniques which include the use of variety of housekeeping equipment, supplies, etc.
As a Housekeeping Aid (HKA), you will perform a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties and routine housekeeping duties.
Duties includes cleaning offices of all types, hospital rooms, wards, day rooms, lobbies, corridors, doctor's quarters, stairways and elevators and other areas; damp-dusts, cleans and polishes furniture, fixtures, kickplates, protection plates, door knobs and other metal fixtures using a variety of solutions and chemicals; Cleans all types of light fixtures or lamps and replaces standard bulbs.
Empties and cleans ash and trash receptacles and is responsible for trash and linen removal; Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, toilet bowls, bathtubs and shower stalls; Cleans sinks, water fountains, mirrors, and floors; Ensures that cleaning supplies are in stock; and performs discharge cleaning services as assigned in accordance with established procedures.
This may include but not be limited to the bed, mattress, frame, springs, bedside locker, bedside chair, overbed table, and overbed light.

Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
Selection at a lower grade level does NOT guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Probationary Period:
Selectee is subject to completion of one-year initial probationary This position involves a multi-grade career ladder.
At the WG-01 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence.
You will progressively acquire the background necessary to be eligible for promotion to the full performance level of WG-02.
Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
