Food Service Worker

This position involves a multi-grade career ladder.
At the WG-01 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence.
You will progressively acquire the background necessary to be eligible for promotion to the full performance level of WG-02.
Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.
These positions are aligned under the Nutrition & Food Service at the VA Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
As a Food Service Worker, you will perform routine manual tasks and basic food handling techniques.
You will work in one or more functional areas of the kitchen such as food preparation, dish and pot washing, dry and refrigerated storage and receiving and the serving line.
Your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Transports food carts to patient units/wards/cart docking stations;Delivers meal trays to the patient's bed, picks up soiled trays and dishes from patient's room after meals;Returns soiled trays and dishes to the dish room;Sorts, washes, peels, and cuts fresh fruits and vegetables;Cleans kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks, and refrigerators;Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware in the dish washing area;Loads and operates dishwashers, silverware washing machines;Stores sanitized dishes, glasses, and silverware.

Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
