Job Description:
As a Scientist II in Process Development you will be responsible for the scale up and manufacturing feasibility work for R&D in support of delivering and maintaining a robust pipeline of new items, product improvements, sustainable enhancements, process development design and technology initiatives, and margin enhancements for the Burt's Bees Business. You will act as the process development lead on projects where you will be responsible for identifying and/or developing the most feasible method for producing new products in our manufacturing facilities and ensuring that our products can be successfully and consistently produced, leading to product launches that: have vertical start-ups, enable world class manufacturing, and result in thrilled consumers. You will work with cross-functional project teams to commercialize products, in close partnership with Product Development, Packaging Development, Global Stewardship, and our PSO functions. You will help create a compelling workplace based on technical acumen, collaboration, and a commitment to loving the lab.
To achieve your goals, you will:
Gain a thorough understanding of Burt's Bees manufacturing plants specifically related to process systems and capabilities.
Utilize technical skills and troubleshooting knowledge to successfully scale up products from the lab bench, to pilot scale, and ultimately to full-scale production to ensure that products can be successfully manufactured to meet consumer's expectations through robust finished good specification development.
Implement process controls and devise test methods to ensure product quality is in compliance with finished product specifications.
Independently represent Process Development within project teams.
Work in an environment that values collaboration, continuous training and self-improvement.
Communicate effectively within cross-functional teams and build strong partnerships with other functions.
Qualifications:
BS/MS in Chemical Engineering or related technical field and 2-5
Years of CPG or Equivalent Experience
Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively interface with cross-functional groups at all levels
Ability to work independently and implement multiple projects in a timely manner
Scientist I (Grade 24) will be considered based on development/business need and the experience of the individual. The position will be re-graded accordingly.
