As an Information Technology (IT) Specialist, you are a valued member of a dynamic team. The employee serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist in the Office of Telecommunications & Systems Operations (OTSO) as a technical expert in the field of teleprocessing systems software having responsibility for performance of technical analysis of system software problems and for developing solutions to a wide range of problems concerning the operation of SSA''s online systems. The incumbent is required to keep abreast of developments in the evolution of SSA''s online systems and the system software packages used to operate and maintain the agency''s online operating environment. Consults with higher grade computer systems programmers to develop solutions to highly complex problems.
Work occurs on a fixed shift: Monday - Friday 4:00 pm - 12:30 am.
Additionally, employee may be required to work irregular hours and/or on weekends or carry a paging device. Work is performed in a clean office setting with periods of time spent in the teleprocessing facility where there is a higher than normal noise level.
