Water Management is seeking a communications professional committed to community engagement and empowerment.
In this role, you will support public outreach, communications, and educational activities required by the recently passed Lead and Copper Rule Revisions.
The candidate for this role needs to possess strong communication skills--verbal and written--and the ability to communicate on multiple levels--technical and relatable--to the community, contractors, employees, and professional staff.
Additionally, they must be organized and technically proficient in all Microsoft applications, as well as social media platforms.
Activities will be coordinated with support from the Lead Safe Team, including the project manager, SR Comms Analyst, and other key staff.
Successful candidates will communicate clearly in person and through various media, be empathetic and strategic, self-motivate and collaborate, and demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service.
The position is a 30-hour per week position WITH BENEFITS.
Although there will be in-person reporting requirements, there is flexibility regarding schedule and work location.
The position is funded for one year with the potential extension of another year.
Duties/Responsibilities Serve as first point-of-contact for email protected emails.
Ensure web pages are up to date with current information.
Research the outreach efforts of other communities.
Work with contractor to update and/or develop communications materials.
Initiate and oversee communication campaigns.
Monitor social media platforms and develop responses, with guidance from Lead Safe Durham staff.
Facilitate neighborhood outreach activities, PAC meetings, etc.
Coordinate communication and outreach with City Departments and groups.
Create timely reports and track all communication and outreach efforts.
