Southpoint Surgery Center (SPSC), an affiliate of North Carolina Specialty Hospital, is a new Ambulatory Surgery Center located between Raleigh and Durham in the Durham-Southpoint area.
SPSC will provide a differentiated outpatient delivery model focused on providing high-quality, cost-effective solutions for surgical and related ancillary care for patients.

This position should develop excellent working relationships with hospital staff and accept guidance and constructive advice to improve performance.
Candidates must have the ability to be flexible and positively accept new responsibilities.
Job Duties:
o Provide individualized nursing care to the surgical patient, demonstrating an extensive knowledge base to support a variety of single and multi-system illnesses and or injuries.
The RN controls the environment within the surgical suite and accepts responsibility for developing and coordinating a safe plan of care utilizing standards of practice and within the framework of set forth by the policies and procedureso Demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards, policies, and procedures and guidelines in caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients:
follows age specific standards in administering medications based on patient's age; follows age specific standards of care during altered states of consciousness related to analgesia, conscious sedation or anesthesia; uses age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines to perform treatments and procedures that are routine for unit/clinic based on patient's ageo Incorporates cultural and developmental needs into plan of care:
in collaboration with the patient/family, and in a developmentally and culturally appropriate manner, implements the plan of care; demonstrates competency in the provision of nursing care according to established standards of nursing practice and in developmentally appropriate mannero Demonstrates excellent communication skills, highly organized with excellent organizational and decision-making skills.
o Demonstrates ability to concentrate on many detailed requests despite numerous interruptions and the ability to prioritize tasks to maintain patient safetyo Provides documentation of patient care in the patient record according to established standards of nursing care.
o Participates and promotes Universal Protocol and time out procedure in every procedureo Demonstrates ability to work with a multidisciplinary team including, surgeons, physician's assistants, anesthesia providers, SPD staff, Radiology and all other OR team members to plan for the care of the patient and to provide for the optimal outcome for the patient.
The OR RN is a patient advocate and assesses the patients' needs through the peri-operative experience and adjusts the plan of care accordingly while communicating the same with all team memberso Participates in performance improvement activities which include collecting, analyzing data to identify quantifiable measures to maintain quality and the promotion of desired outcomes.
Also includes participation in development of patient care delivery systems, standards, policy and procedures, and problem-solving teamsEducation and Experience Requirements:
o Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Associate's degree required; BSN preferredo Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact multi-state licenseo BLS from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required upon hireo ACLS & PALS from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) preferred; must obtain both certifications within 6 months of hire if certification(s) is/are currently not activeo CNOR Certification strongly preferredo Familiar with instruments and equipment related to Perioperative Nursingo Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity in handling instrumentsOur employees are critical to our success, and we value their contributions.
